Roundup 78: Favorite Dog Articles & Videos of the Week
Would you believe that it’s getting harder & harder to just read articles about dogs without politics getting in the way? It’s true, and I guess it’s not really surprising at all given the U.S. election is less than a month away…
But to all my dog blogging friends who have managed to keep their pet blogs & social media profiles politics free lately this is for you:
Now don’t get me wrong – there is nothing wrong with debating politics, it’s just not something I want to see when I’m trying just to read about dogs. Personally always open to debate & enjoy a good back & forth on issues from time to time – but I keep that side of things separate from my dog blog.
So political derailments aside (I’m pretty sure I just added to those BTW, oops) here’s what you actually came for – some awesome new dog articles.
From how a dog learned over 1,000 words to a great way to find some awesome new pet blogs & posts, here’s some of my favorite dog articles of the week. I hope you enjoy them as much as I did – and I hope your dog friendly reading continues to be free of politics 🙂

Vets Get Discouraged Too | A Vet’s Guide to Life
An honest look at the cases in which veterinarian’s aren’t able to give patients an exact diagnosis – they’re only able to tell you what it isn’t. As a pet owner it’s extremely frustrating to not be given all the answers when it comes to your pets health, but this piece is a reminder that your vet isn’t taking it lightly either.
Train the Dog in Front of You: Heeling | Denise Fenzi
Great reminder (and video) that when it comes to dog training there isn’t always a ‘one size fits all’ option. Next time you’re training your dog observe their behaviors & watch to see which methods (toys, food, lots of yipees!, etc) work best to motivate them to learn more.

In depth look at the moral & financial problems rescues & shelters face when it comes to deciding how to treat dogs that exhibit behavioral issues.
