Roundup 34 – Favorite Dog Articles, Deals & Videos of the Week
If You’ve E-mailed Me Over the Past Few Months I Apologize
I’m a horrible monster when it comes to e-mail, but let me explain…
A few months ago I updated my contact page to hopefully cut down on the time I was going through e-mail, and to not waste the time of PR people. I added a few lines about how I don’t do solicited product reviews or accept guest posts at this time – which is pretty much 95% of what I was getting. Great plan, right?
Well I thought “wow, it’s really working, people are actually reading it!” because my e-mails started to dwindle down to… well nothing. Genius me finally decides to log into my hosting account to see if my auto forward thingie was working — and well, it wasn’t.
So I’m sorry if it takes me awhile to get back to you, I’ve got 603 messages to read..
On a much happier note it’s the weekend, hooray. Here’s my favorite dog articles, deals & videos of the week — I hope you enjoy them as much as I did.
Favorite Dog Articles of the Week
How We Helped Our Nervous Dog Finally Feel Safe
Anyone that’s had a shy or fearful dog will appreciate this article. There’s such an intense bond that forms when you see your dog overcome so many fears and start to open up to everything around them.
How One Special Dog Helps Heal a Survivor of Childhood Sexual Abuse
I can’t find the right words to summarize this beautifully personal essay and how it speaks to those of us who find such comfort in our canine friends — so do yourself a favor and just read it.
Parents With Human Kids! Kids Interacting With Dogs
Amen to this — it’s amazing how many times Laika has been approached by children even when I’m doing my best to tell them (and their parents) that she needs a slow introduction. Wonderful look at the importance of teaching children to respect dogs.
I Refuse to Take a Training Stance
While I only use positive methods with my own dog (and talk about them here) I do have a few friends that use others. It takes a lot of guts to come out and say you’re not going to take a training stance, and I appreciate the heartfelt honesty in this article.
Why We Can’t Save Them All – Euthanasia and Aggressive Dogs
The term “no kill” started with the understanding that no healthy, adoptable animals would be euthanized for space. Unfortunately there are some dogs that are not behaviorally safe for most homes, and there’s not always enough resources available to meet their needs.
Dogs Would Rather Watch Humans Hugging Than Dogs “Hugging”
I found this study interesting — dogs not only watched the humans hug more – but they did so for a much longer period of time – glancing between the humans to (most likely) pick up on cues.
Pugs Dressed As ’90s Rappers Is The Cutest Shizzle You’ll See All Dizzle
There’s just something about these Pugs I find super adorable as you can see in the featured image above.
