Meet Your Best Friend at the Detroit Zoo This Weekend
Meet Your Best Friend at the Detroit Zoo 2016
The Michigan Humane Society and the Detroit Zoological Society are hosting their annual Meet Your Best Friend at the Zoo adoption event, presented by Purina, from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday May 13, and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday May 14 at the Detroit Zoo.
The event features hundreds of adoptable animals from over 40 local animal welfare organizations. Some of my favorite local rescues will be there including Home Fur Ever, Last Day Dog Rescue, and Wag Animal Rescue.
There is no charge for admission or parking. The event is held under tents in the front parking lot of the Detroit zoo. For health and safety reasons please leave your current pets at home.
With so many adoption groups from around the state and beyond, there’s always a great variety of pets and you’re sure to find your perfect match. – Michael Robbins, VP of Michigan Humane Society communications
The adoption fees and policies are set by each of the participating organizations – not the sponsors. Adopters must present a valid drivers license or state ID card. All animals will are up to date on vaccinations and have received medical check ups.
Last years Meet Your Best Friend at the Zoo found homes for 635 animals. Since the event started in 1993, more than 22,000 pets have been adopted during the spring and fall events.

That’s awesome. What I like best about this idea it is not just one entity putting on an event, you can choose from so many, get an opportunity to chat with folks in the organization and of course check out some awesome pets. I hope this is very successful!

What a nice way to help with pet adoption and I second the opportunity to talk to care provider to get to know a pet better.
