69 Michigan Shelters to Waive Pet Adoption Fees on April 29
Looking to adopt a new dog or cat? Well mark your calendar for April 29, where 69 Michigan shelters will be waiving their pet adoption fees during the Empty the Shelters Event.
On Saturday April 29, the Bissell Pet Foundation will be paying the adoption fees for dogs & cats at 69 shelters across Michigan. Those who adopt will only be responsible for licensing fees, which range from $7 – $12.
Those who adopt a pet on April 29 will also be given an AdoptBox. It includes some of the items new pet parents need such as treats & toys, cleaning products, and an ID tag and collar.

The Last Event Found Homes For 1900 Animals
This is the third Empty The Shelters event to be held in Michigan. The last event, which was held in October, helped over 1900 pets find homes. And this time around they’re hoping to break that record by finding homes for more than 2000 animals.

they did this in nc. the shelters were empty as were many rescue groups that participated. the spca had people lined up the night b4 to get animals, there were no dogs left in the shelter by 12n and all of the cats were gone the next day. one of the local cat rescues groups had no cats left either. i think they should do this at least 2 times a yr.
