12 Shelter Dogs Smiling After Being Adopted
I don’t know if there’s anything quite as heartwarming as seeing a shelter dog find a new home. For me one of the best feelings in the world is seeing these deserving dogs find their loving, forever homes.
Many of these dogs had been at the shelter for months (sometimes years) patiently waiting for the right person to come along. As soon as these dogs walk out of the exit they know they’re free – you can see it on their faces. Shelter dogs smiling makes everyone happy; especially when they know they’ve finally gotten their second chance.
Here’s some great photos of dogs being adopted – I think their smiles tell the whole story.
12 Shelter Dogs Smiling After Being Adopted
And to top it all off here’s a heartwarming video about a special happy, wiggly puppy adopted from the Michigan Humane Society.
Everyone loves a happy ending. Most shelter dogs are living in a crowded and noisy kennel – they seem to show gratitude for being given a nice, cozy place to stay for a change. It’s no wonder they’re smiling. These dogs all got a second chance at life and for that they seem truly grateful.
And even if you can’t adopt there are still many ways you can help animal shelters, including ways to help without leaving home. I know we can’t do everything, but each of us can do a little something to make a difference for an animal in need.

Oh, how I love happy endings! Thank you 🙂 On Tuesday you should add this post to the Tuesdays Tails bloghop. We could all use some smiles like this!

Good news. Our license fees support the Oakland County Animal Control. 🙂
Jen Gabbard says
That’s one of my favorite shelters to support; they have such a high volume of animals coming in all the time. It’s a big county and as far as I know I think they’re the only animal control center in Oakland county that takes in strays and has an open door policy. If you know of anyone looking for a cat they’re near capacity at the moment so they’re waiving the adoption fee for all cats over 6 months of age to approved adopters 🙂

I have been working on my dad to get a senior cat since he lost his a few months ago. I love that they waived their fee and I will mention it to him. 🙂

If you do consider getting one and Auburn Hills isn’t close they’re having an adoption event at the Pet Supplies Plus in White Lake this weekend 🙂
“*SAVE THE DATE* October 18th and 19th (Saturday and Sunday) at the
Pet Supplies Plus in White Lake (6845 Highland Rd) and Bloomfield
Township (2057 S. Telegraph) we will be having adoptable cats at both
locations. Our adoption specials still
apply to these events with cats 6 months or older being free and kittens
will go for $57.50. The Bloomfield location will have both dogs and
cats up for adoptions. Hours are 9am til 9 pm. Hope to see you there.”

I will let him know. We also have a pal who is tight with the Dearborn Animal Shelter. so that is another place. I don’t know about a kitten though. He is 85. I am pushing him toward a senior cat. Even then the likelihood he will outlive the cat is slim. All his cats have lived forever!
