I got one done from Pet Sketch Portraits (check her out on Instagram) and it’s the one of best things I’ve bought this year. It seriously gave me all the feels. And I’m not going to lie – I may look tough, but I teared up when I opened it.
What to Expect When Ordering a Custom Dog Portrait
I don’t buy many things online, and this was my first time ordering anything custom. I had no idea what to expect, and this was my first buying anything on Etsy. But even for a newb like me the process was painless. I went to the shop, selected the type of portrait I wanted (I got the $45 digital “Custom Pet Portrait Sketch”) and made my purchase. (They accept Visa, Mastercard, Amex, Discover & Paypal)
Afterwards I followed the instructions and e-mailed a couple of high res images of Laika to the artist and that was it. It took awhile because I had over 10,000 images to sort through, but that’s a personal issue (and I bet you can relate)… A couple of days later my digital portrait arrived, and the tears they did floweth.
Just look at it. It gives me all the feels.

There’s something so awesome about having something personal made, with the end result being that sweet doggie face you love looking right back at you.
Seriously, nothing else that I’ve got for $45 has had this much of emotional impact*. It’s beautiful, it’s personal, and it’s such a great way to support a wonderful artist. If you’ve ever wanted a custom dog portrait made I highly recommend Pet Sketch Portraits.
*Except for that time I had my hair permed as a child, but those were the bad kind of tears.

Oh wow! That came out great! Shiner has a custom portrait, but in a different style that I really love. It’s watercolor and less “realistic” than this sketch style. I just saw it in my memories the other day and may need to share it again.

That is so beautiful! It captures Laika even better than the photo – how is that possible?
I know, right? It’s so realistic it’s creepy in a way, in fact my boyfriend said on first glance “that looks traced,” which lead to us inspecting it and determining that it is in fact not traced, just exceptionally well done.
Oh, that portrait is exquisite!! I would have been a mess when I saw it too. <3 I'm actually surprised at the price, seems very reasonable for something so personal and precious. P.S. And I'm right there with you on the perm…. sometimes I still have flashbacks.
